Most of the publishers/bloggers think that the process of obtaining and implementing advertisement codes is a very tedious and arduous task. It may be in other advertising networks but in AdSense, this complete process of getting the codes and implementation of the same is very easy. Before I start up with the process let me explain you about ad units.
An AdSense ad unit is a space on the website where publishers want to display ads. It can consist of one or more ads. You get to customize your ad unit- how you want an ad unit to look, where you want it to appear on the page, and kind of ad content you would like to see displayed. Either you can use different ad units for different web pages on a website or you can choose a single ad unit for all the web pages. These ads are displayed as a result of AdSense ad code which you insert into the HTML code of your page. Creating an ad unit (getting codes) is a very simple process. Once you get the codes you are not allowed to tamper or alter it. These are the steps which will lead you to your AdSense ad code (steps for creating an ad unit).
i. First of all Sign into your Google’s AdSense account, once your application is accepted.
ii. Visit My ads tab.
iii. From the sidebar, choose the product i.e. it you want to display ads on your website choose “Content ads”. Similarly you can also choose other options for search box, video games, feeds etc.
iv. Then click on Ad units, after which you need to click on +New ad unit.
v. Here you can name and customize your ad unit. Change the settings- name, ad size, ad type, backup ads etc.
vi. Click Save and get code.
vii. Copy and paste the ad code into the HTML source code of your pages where you would like your ads to appear.

ix. Save your website and your ads will appear within a few minutes.
x. If you wish to change the settings of any of your ad unit in near future, you can do this from your list of content ads under My ads tab.
