All said and done about blogging, it’s time to set up some strategies to make your blog successful. Many new bloggers churn up every day with an aim to make it their business. But only a few achieve success. A blogging strategy is absolutely required if you are aiming to make it your business. I’m not talking about creating a vision or goals for your blogging business. Real life plans and strategies are needed to be build. Without planning a blog strategy, your blogging business is just a well-intentioned dream with a little or no chance of succeeding.
There are a number of expert advices and “best practices” available online. But that’ll work only if you take some kind of action. Unless you do it, you’re never gonna get it.
An effective blogging strategy works “behind the scenes”. The outcome of a good implemented strategy is seen at the front end of blogging. It’s similar to a movie. Your blogging strategy does all the work and if done well, your movie (blog) comes out well.
So let’s take up a good effective blogging strategy to make your blogging business successful. Below are the points, which should be worked upon as a whole. These are not different strategies. Every blogger has a universal strategy which is sub-divided below:
The basic foundation of any successful blogger is to be considerate. By considerate, I mean to take blogging decisions with respect to your reader’s point of view. At the beginning stage, you’ll have readers but subsequently , you’ll have buyers or prospective clients. So what I am trying to say here is that the blog is not all about you. You will have to work according to your readers. You’ll have to show concern for others. It’ s all about finding and knowing who your intended readers are, what are their problems and challenges and delivering the information that they need to succeed. Once you are able to do that, people start recognizing you as their problem solver.
Successful blogs are not huge encyclopedias. Yes, they are a great reservoir of information. But an effective blogging strategy balances relevant content with the blogger’s desire to make more money. Each blog post should lead readers to the blogger’s marketing funnel. Content should not go waste. I concur to the fact that information is required in a blog, but a blog should contain only that information which has the power to solve intended readers’ problems. Solving unintended readers’ problems is a waste of your time and effort. You are here for business, right? So start preparing prospective clients by giving targeted information.
Every business demands a schedule and blogging is no different. The success of blogging is very unlikely unless you commit to a schedule. Yes, a timetable. You need to have a clear cut time table for your blogging. Scheduling includes frequency of posting, dates and the time when the new posts will appear, dates to start writing a new posts, deadlines that must be met to keep your blog working in case of any crisis etc. Think of every time related events and make a schedule of it. The biggest advantage of making a schedule is that it helps make blogging become a habit, rather than a last minute event. Take a look at the risks involved in while planning a blog for your business.
D. System Help:
An effective blogging strategy eliminates the stress of starting a blog with a blank mind. It guides the bloggers as they choose their topics, posts, ways to keep readers engaged etc. System help refers to softwares and programs that help bloggers create a framework which helps them in blogging. I use MindJet MindManager to create mind maps. This is a brilliant software for brainstorming, prioritizing tasks, creating plans etc. Similarly you can use some other blogging tools that can help you to establish your blogging business.
This is a crucial step for creating an effective blogging strategy. Your blog posts cannot afford to contain mistakes, errors or any kind of typos. This simply explains your cavalier nature towards your blog. Your readers will quickly vanish if you have any errors. The best possible way to avoid this is by proofreading. Edit your posts before you publish them.
Editing becomes difficult when your blogs become a last minute venture. This gives you or your editor less time to proofread to find the faults. Editing and revisions becomes very difficult in these cases. A better way to improve the quality of your blog posts is by completing a post a day ahead of time, so that it can be reviewed from a fresh perspective the next morning. Mistakes and errors are more likely to be seen if the post is viewed fresh.
F. Quality Content Organization:
Needless to say, but a major factor determining the success of blog is its content. Provide high quality content to your readers to make them return back to your blog to get more. Well, the main issue, here, is not providing high quality content (which is very obvious) but managing such content. Your content is too valuable to be used only once. A good blogging strategy views each blog post as a resource that can be reused, repurposed and reformatted for different purposes. Your blog posts can be assembled into eBooks, reports, podcasts, tip sheets, YouTube videos, newsletters etc. Organize your content in such a manner so that you can use it again and again to get the most out of it.
This brings us to final sub point of a good blogging strategy. Book publishers, movie producers etc. can never predict the success of their books or movies accurately, unless they have some hard facts. Similar to them, a blogger can never predict which post will attract or has attracted most readers or maximum email subscribers or which post has got the maximum likes or retweets. What a good blogger does is that he/she tracks his/her blog posts to find the most working topics. This marketing feedback helps bloggers to make future topic choices.
Give equal importance to each and every strategical sub point. A good blogging strategy paves the path for blogging business success.
