Will anyone read my blog? This is the most popular question that pops up in the minds of upcoming bloggers. The questions seems simple, but holds the magic wand for “make or break” of the blog. A blog post is called successful when there are a lot of readers in it. And by readers, I mean, intended readers.
You want to build a popular and a profitable site. You’ll need to have visitors who stick to your site to grasp all the information that you’ve provided.
There are two ways of doing it. Either you start writing and hope someone notices you and your blog, or you start researching your blogging niche to find the weakest point where you can pitch in your blog content. By doing the latter, you can find blogging niche to make your content authoritative and you stand at a better place to get recognized.
A niche is very important for a blog. It keeps you in track and lets you find your intended readers. Once you’ve found blogging niche , you need to research that niche to see if you’ve got any readers for it or not. This is what I will be explaining you in this blog post.
You can never tell beforehand whether people will like (or read) your content, unless you show it to them. One practice that’ll help you decide the former question is keyword research. You can see how many people are searching for your topics and then can compare different topics with each other to estimate their popularity.
Let’s take up an example to demonstrate on how you can use keyword research to target and segment your desired audience.
Let’s say I am an expert wedding planner and I want people to know about wedding planning and want to train them on how to become a wedding planner. This is my niche.
Let’s see if anybody’s looking for this information online. There are a number of keyword research tools available on internet. I prefer to use Google Adwords Keywords tool . I searched for the word “wedding planner”. This is what I got.
1,000,000 searches are conducted on the term “how to be a wedding planner”. The list below keyword ideas gives you the related keywords that people are searching for. Around 18,100 searches are for wedding planner book. 6,600 searches are for wedding planner movie.
This was only the first page of Adwords. When you go through the second and the third pages, you will get more topics which people are searching for. You will find that you will get search results for “wedding planner tutorial”, “wedding planner salary” and various others.
You will also find search volumes “wedding planner Chicago”, “wedding planner Boston”. This implies that people are searching for wedding planners in these areas. You can use this in your blog post to tell people about the demand of wedding planners.
One of the most important steps in marketing is to segment your audience and is what you are doing here. If you divide them according to their interests, you can perfectly tailor a message that’s targeted to the group that you want to pursue. It makes much easier to grab attention.
Gather more and more information with these keywords for your blogging niche. The best part is that you can also design and pre-select your blog topics. If you are going to start a blog, you need a large reservoir of post ideas and this is what you get with keyword research.
You can also incorporate other segments of related industries to find blogging niche. For example, event management, marriage ceremonies, honeymoon travels etc.
The final thing that you should do is to check your competition. Check other successful wedding planner blogs and see what they have in store. Get inspired with their blogs to find your blogging niche. See the areas that other blogs have covered. Find the missing piece in their blogs, if any. Learn from their mistakes.
Imagine a lot and you can never reach an impasse. This is how you do an efficient niche research. This research will give you readers, ideas, find blog ging niche topics, your competitive blogs, and many other important things.
By doing this, you have a decent shot at getting lots and lots of traffic. Authority sites will link to you and you will write stuff exactly what people want to read.
