The base of all IT pathways is the CompTIA A+ certification. It’s often said that no one should proceed in this career without participating in this certification, and for good reason that statement is true. The skills learned are tremendously important to further succeed in whichever specialty field you decide to get into. The topics extend far past anything “basic” – although the basics are covered, they are in-depth enough to make anyone become an expert in general IT networking and maintenance.
Computer technology is at the forefront. Participants will take a look at installation, configure and maintenance procedures for PCs, laptops and mobile devices. Operating systems, printers, and basic networking will also be covered. This CompTIA certification is broken down into two exams. Both must be passed successfully in order to earn the certification. The first exam will test knowledge of computing fundamentals and related hardware. The second exam requires specific knowledge of operating systems (PC and mobile) and network connectivity.
Although the CompTIA exams are multiple choice, they assume that participants have working experience with the skills that are covered. Questions will be conceptual but also application based. Earning this certification is a great way to jumpstart your career in IT. Not only is it internationally recognized, providing a great credential to put on your resume, but it is essential to becoming an IT support technician, administrator or specialist. Intel, Lenovo and Dell computing companies require all of their service techs to earn it, while other vendors strongly encourage it of their employees. Through CompTIA’s Continuing Education Program, the A+ can be re-earned every three years, proving that you are up-to-date in all of the latest technologies and developments.
